Noorarhitekt 2008 on Siiri Vallner

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves nimetas eile Kumu kunstimuuseumis toimunud Eesti Arhitektide Liidu (EAL) üldkogul Noore Arhitekti Preemia saajaks Siiri Vallneri.
Žürii otsuse kohaselt tõi Siiri Vallnerile võidu selged ideed, kohatunnetus, tundlik materjalikäsitlus, detailidesse süvenemine, aktiivne ja edukas osavõtt avalikest konkurssidest, pedagoogitöö ja arhitektuurielu tutvustav avalik tegevus. Vallneri tööde enamik on avalike konkursside võitudena saadud, mis on võimaldanud tal tegeleda buumipressingust sõltumatu arhitektuuriga. Arhitektina on ta põhjalik ja oskab suurepäraselt luua arhitektuuri, mis sunnib end vaatama, uurima ja kogema. Siiri tegevus arhitektuuris on silmapaistvalt omanäoline ja tervikut haarav, nii projektides kui kirjatöödes.
Noore Arhitekti Preemia anti välja esmakordselt ja eesmärgiga tunnustada eesti noorte arhitektide innovaatilist ja loovat mõtlemist. Preemia algataja on Heldur Meerits ning auhinnaks on maailmareis Go Travelilt väärtuses 70 000 krooni, et aidata arhitektil avardada oma silmaringi veelgi.
Žüriisse kuulusid arhitektuurikriitik ja Madalmaade arhitektuuriajakirja A10 peatoimetaja Hans Ibelings, arhitektid Inga Raukas ja Peeter Pere ning ettevõtjad Heldur Meerits ja Heiki Kivimaa.
Noore Arhitekti Preemia konkurss kuulutati välja eelmise 22. oktoobril ning tähtajaks, 1. detsembriks esitati EAL liikmete poolt preemiale kaheksa ühtlaselt tugevat kandidaati: Martin Aunin, Hanno Grossschmidt, Ott Kadarik, Raivo Kotov, Ralf Lõoke, Jaan Tiidemann, Villem Tomiste, Siiri Vallner. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, President of The Republic of Estonia, Names Siiri Vallner As Recipient of the Young Architect Award at the General Assembly of the Union of Estonian Architects at the Kumu Art Museum
According to the jury’s decision, the winning entry fell to Siiri Vallner because of clear ideas, sense of place, sensitive handling of materials, engagement with detail, active and successful participation in public competitions, teaching and public activity in educating about architectural life. The majority of Vallner’s projects have been winning entries in public competitions, allowing her to be involved with architecture that is independent of the pressures of the boom. As an architect, she is thorough and is an expert at creating architecture that compels itself to be viewed, examined and experienced. Siiri’s activity in architecture is conspicuously distinct and holistic, both in her projects and writings.
The Young Architect Award was awarded for the first time, with the aim of recognising the innovative and creative thinking of Estonia’s young architects. The Award was initiated by Heldur Meerits, and the prize is an around-the-world trip from Go Travel valued at EEK 70 000, in order to help the architect to expand his or her horizons further.
The jury included the architectural critic and editor-in-chief of the Netherlands architectural journal A10, Hans Ibelings, architects Inga Raukas and Peeter Pere, and entrepreneurs Heldur Meerits and Heiki Kivimaa.
The competition for the Young Architect Award was announced on 22 October of last year, and by the deadline, 1 December, eight equally strong candidates were nominated by members of the Union of Estonian Architects: Martin Aunin, Hanno Grossschmidt, Ott Kadarik, Raivo Kotov, Ralf Lõoke, Jaan Tiidemann, Villem Tomiste, and Siiri Vallner.
